Hi! I’m Lisa.

I haven’t followed a “typical” designer’s path - and I think that’s a good thing! I believe in an interdisciplinary approach to design that incorporates art, psychology, history and everything in between. I’m passionate about developing and improving human-centered designs that help solve real-world problems.

I studied at UC Berkeley and majored in English Literature and Creative Writing. While in school I won departmental scholarships and awards for both my creative writing and my scholarly writing and research skills. I also took numerous classes in Psychology because I’ve always been fascinated by the human brain and human behavior. My psychology coursework gave me the additional benefit of training in statistics and taught me how to and analyze data-driven experiments. I’m fascinated by the ways people see, feel and interact with words and the world around them.

My educational, professional and personal life experiences have shaped me into an empathetic, intuitive and creative problem solver. I’ve learned how to research unfamiliar topics, how to interpret complex data, and perhaps most importantly, how to listen to people.

I’m motivated as a designer to bridge the gap between internal feelings and thoughts and external words and products. No goal is too big, and at the same time no task is too small. I may have followed a non-traditional career path but I truly feel prepared to tackle whatever comes at me with curiosity, humility, logic and excitement.

Whenever I’m feeling stuck I think of my favorite quote -

“It always seems impossible until it’s done.”- Nelson Mandela.
